"Macarena" is a word with a rich history and various meanings attached to it.
The entrance to the town of la Macarena in Seville, Spain, is centuries old. Rebuilt twice, in 1713 and 1795, it is covered with Arabic designs honoring in Muslim princess and know as the "Door of La Macarena". "Macarena" is also the Sevillian avocation of the Virgin Mary appeared near the city in early hours on Good Friday, during Easter Week.
